School Vision and Mission

Our mission is to prepare students to be successful college graduates, who contribute to society as productive members of the community.

School Profile

Welcome to Miramonte Elementary School, home of the Mustangs where excellence in education and a positive, child-centered environment is our commitment to prepare every child for the future. Miramonte is a place where students, parents, and staff have high expectations for themselves and each other with a vision to instill a joy of learning and to create life-long learners who will become problem solvers, critical thinkers, effective communicators, and positive contributors to our school and community. Our school motto is “Together We Can” because we know that working collaboratively we can help all of our students be academically and socially-emotionally prepared to realize their dreams.

Miramonte is a Peace Builder school. We teach our students the six principles of Peace Builders: Praise People, Give Up Put Downs, Seek Wise People, Notice Hurts, Right Wrongs, and Help Others. Our staff has been trained in these principles and we incorporate them into our daily interactions with each other, our students, and our parents.

Miramonte promotes 21st Century Learning and Teaching. All of our teachers receive on-going staff development in the most effective ways to integrate technology with instruction. All of our students use innovative technology on a daily basis to enhance their learning across the curriculum. In reading, Kindergarten and First grade students visit our Waterford Early Reading Lab daily where early literacy skills are brought to life through a fun and interactive approach. Also, all students in grades first through sixth demonstrate their growth in reading comprehension through our Accelerated Reader program.

In mathematics, students in Kindergarten through Fifth grade are engaged weekly in Spatial-Temporal Math in our computer lab based on the research of the MIND Research Institute. This program helps students “visualize” math and gives them the opportunity to work at their own pace in developing mastery of the California Standards in Mathematics. Finally, all students in grades three through six are issued their own NEO2 laptop. These amazing devices allow students to access the Accelerated Reader program, practice their math facts, learn keyboarding skills, and serve as a classroom response system during teacher-paced lessons in any subject. Our students love having their own NEO2 laptop at their desk and use them throughout the day.

Our goal in presenting you with the information on this website is to keep our community well informed of the great programs we have to offer our students.
