Attendance Information

Daily school attendance improves student achievement. Miramonte Elementary School takes attendance very seriously. It is of utmost importance that all students attend school every day and on time. Daily school attendance is obligatory for student 6 to 18 years of age. Let's work together to teach students to be on time and that school attendance is an important family value!

The Mountain View School District has the following process in place:

Tardy

  • The First Tardy letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 5 tardies. (Taking your child early out of school counts as a tardy)
  • The Second tardy letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 10 tardies

Excessive Excused Absence

  • The First Excessive Absence letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 5 excused absences
  • The Second Excessive Absence letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 8 excused absences

Truancy

  • The First Truancy letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 3 unexcused absences
  • The Second Truancy letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 6 unexcused absences
  • The Third Truancy letter will be sent to parent/guardian after 9 unexcused absences
  • After 10 absences the parent/guardian and the student will be placed on an Attendance Contract with the School/Distrct (ACT)
  • If the attendance does not improve, the parent/guardian, the student and any sibling under the age of 18 enrolled in school will be entered into an Attendance Contract with the District Attorney (SART)
  • If the family fails to follow the contract with the District Attorney, the family will be referred to the School Attendance Review Board (SARB)

Always call or come into the office when you or an emergency contact changes phone number.
